Ezekiel is the son of a baron and is supposed to take the city in charge when his father will pass (but he won't). He became squire for the imperial army at 13 years old and a knight four years later. In his late teens, he developped a crush on the Empress, Marta Montpetit Thisbel. He of course never acted on it, both because of the age gap and the status difference. But was heartbroken when she passed from complications at childbirth, when he was 20 years old. He became the Honorable Knight ten years later and had his mother's portrait painted in a locket by the castle's painter. Lucia then died two years later from a lung disease, so the portrait came right in time. Ezekiel is the one who was sent by the Emperor Basilium to accompany the elves on their floating island.
