Gabriel is the third born of the Archangels, after Lucifer and Michael. He is the patron of communication and fertility, having announced the birth of Jesus, amongst other things.
Gabriel once fell for a charismatic, striking man whose methods of helping people were... questionable. But he had great potential if he strived away from that dangerous path, and he was under one of Gabriel's domains: communication. The Archangel thus appeared to the man, revealing his identity and warning him against that path. Being a man of God, the human promised to do what was right, as it's what He requested (it's not, He doesn't care about humans unless it amuses Him). And Gabriel foolishly believed him. He blessed the man with fertility as a thank and encouragement towards the right path.
But what the man believed to be right sort of diverged from the Archangel's views. He promised people he would help them, make them feel closer to God... you see where this is going. He only became worse. More controlling. More cunning. More passionate. And populating his "community" with many children of his own, thanks to Gabriel's blessing. The angel descended a few times, trying to redirect him over and over. But the manipulation and lies worked on him too. Gabriel really wanted to believe that his blessed one would change his ways, that he would finally realize he was harming these people; he couldn't be doing this on purpose, right? Until the very end, he wanted to have faith in the man.
But the end arrived early, too early. A collective end. An end to "reach God". An end broadcasted. An end Gabriel watched every second of.
It broke Gabriel. He yelled and cried at his TV when it happened. He began isolating himself, his usual news broadcast "Hello Heaven!" staying awfully quiet for weeks. He stopped eating, causing his powers to deplete, hoping his immortal shell would finally go to rest. It's his sister Raphael who took care of him during those dark times; tended to his wounds, made sure he ate a bit everyday, helped him bathe, cracked his isolation one visit after the other.
He's much better now, tho always on edge because of his Father's silent reign of terror, and closer than ever to Raphael. Right, Gabriel?
...Gabriel?
